Please share a memory of Sherry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sherry Keeping (nee Pope ) announces her passing on May 24,2021, surrounded by her loving family, at the Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre. Born in Channel Port -Aux-Basques, she was the daughter of Mary Pope and the late Corwin Pope. She will be sadly missed and never forgotten by her husband, Lorne of 47 years; her sons, Jamie(Amelia), Darren (Daele),and most of all, her precious grandchildren, Kache and Remmy. Also left to mourn: mother, Mary Pope, brothers, Barry (Daisy)Pope, Bub(Liz) Pope, Lloyd (Gaynia) Pope, Dwayne(Roxanne) Pope; sisters, Marilyn (Reuben)Pope, Cathy (Ted) Dale, and Cynthia Pope; brothers and sisters in law, Barbara(Melvin) Harris, Marilyn Hatcher, Hubert Keeping, Maxine Keeping(Dermont King),Hickman(Nicole)Keeping, Arlene Keeping(Dennis Courtney), Jim(Lorraine) Keeping, Perry (Trudy) Keeping and Henry Baggs; 26 nieces and nephews; 24 great nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of friends. Sherry was predeceased by father, Corwin Pope; baby brother, Carl, father and mother in law, Angus P. and Julia Keeping; sister-in-law, Grace Baggs and brother-in-law, Reginald Hatcher.  Sherry was a well loved and caring soul! She had a big heart and shared a piece of it with everyone she ever known. She was known as a wonderful cook and baker and anyone who ever had the blessing of tasting her food came back looking for more. Although, baking and cooking was a passion of hers. Her biggest joy was her family and dear friends, especially her precious grand babies who she loved beyond measure. Sherry loved to crochet and knit. She was part of the church sewing group and made many things for the needy. She enjoyed her darts and sometimes, a good game of cards. Sherry loved to have fun and “she had an infectious laugh!” . Sherry put up a strong fight to cancer, not once but twice, until her last breath on May 24th. She will be missed by many but never forgotten. The family will receive visitors at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port-aux-Basques, on Wednesday, May 26 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, May 27 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Friday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. from St. George’s Anglican Church in Burnt Islands, by invite only due to COVID 19 restrictions, with Canon Rev.
