It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eileen Ricketts announces her sudden passing on Tuesday, July 6th 2021 at the age of 77 at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre. Born in Port aux Basques she was the daughter of the late Israel and Marie Anderson. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her only son, Glen Ricketts (Disa), granddaughter, Chanel. She will forever remain in the hearts of her sisters and brothers-in-laws, Jessie Osmond, Winnie Parsons, Bernice (George) Keeping, Joyce Huelin, Jane Anderson (Stewart Short), Linda Harvey (Rob Ingram), Viola (Jermone) Bragg. She will also be fondly missed by her brothers and sisters –in-laws; Edward Harvey, Gordon (Susan) Dicks, Ray Dicks (Audrey), Claude (Lori) Dicks, Rob Dicks (Debbie Farrell), Jim Ricketts, Cora (George)Lawrence, Garland Fudge, Marjorie(Stan) Seaward, Susan (Brian) Ingram and Juanita Gearin, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and many friends. Eileen was predeceased, by her husband, Wilfred Ricketts, mother and father in law, John and Lucy Dicks, sister, Sandra Harvey, sister-in-law, Esther Dicks, brother-in-laws, Bert Osmond, Henry Parsons, John Harvey and Dorman Huelin. A very special thank you to her caretakers, Angela, Sarah and Marilyn and the doctors, nurses and staff at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Center for their loving care, concern and compassion given to Eileen. Eileen will always be remembered for her love of fishing, berry picking, spending time with her family and shopping for shirts wherever she went. Eileen loved to bake and everyone went to Eileen’s for cookies and cake. She always had a variety of sweets in the fridge, the teapot on the stove and a smile on her face as you walked through her door. The family will receive visitors at Oceanside Funeral Home, on Friday, July 9th from 2-4 & 7-9. In keeping with Eileen’s wishes cremation to follow. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 11th at St. James Anglican Church at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Jane Allen officiating. Interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers graciously accepted or donations in Eileen’s memory may be made to charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port-aux-Basques, 695-7010.
