It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late James “Jim” Buffett announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Dr.Charles L LeGrow Health Centre at the age of 71. Jim was the son of the late
Benjamin and Mary (nee Hunt) Buffett.Jim was born and grew up in Rencontre West, a resettled community that always held a special place in his heart. He spoke of it often and was known to share a few stories of his mischievous days.
Jim was known to many for his musical abilities. His love of music went with him everywhere. Jim was an avid classic country music fan and especially loved to sing anything Johnny Cash.
No matter the season, Jim spent endless days hunting or fishing. He loved the
outdoors and cherished the times when he could just sit outside and enjoy the
sights and sounds of nature’s beauty.
Family was very important to Jim. He spoke of his family on a regular basis and
loved to be around them as much as possible.
Jim leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving partner, Glenda
Parsons, his sons, Scott (Elizabeth) and Dean (Courtney) Buffett, grandson,
Leonard, stepchildren, Sarah Parsons, Heather (Jim) Porter, Danette (Enos)Meade
and Tracey Squarey, brothers and sisters, Elsie Fudge, Peter (Jessie) Buffett, Joan(Joe) Felix, Joe (Geraldine) Buffett and Wanda (Paul) Foote, plus a large circle of step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces,nephews, extended family and friends.
Jim was predeceased by his infant daughter, Deanna, wife, Christine Buffett,
brother in-law, Rev. Dr. Hugh J. Fudge.
Visitation will take place on Friday, November 17th from 2:00 -4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 P.M at Oceanside Funeral Home, 23 Read Street, Port aux Basques. Funeral
service will take place on Saturday, November 18th at 2:30 P.M from St. James
Anglican Church with Rev. Jane Allan officiating with interment to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers graciously accepted or
donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church. Words of comfort can be
